Just wanted to share a little news. Just wanted to let you know that the story, “Blackbird”, was an Honorable Mention in the Glimmer Train contest for unpublished authors. I’m still working on it want to submit it for the Writer’s Digest Short Literary fiction contest in May, and I wanted to take the opportunity to thank you again for being a great teacher. I’m more excited about writing than ever, and I think that you are partially responsible. Thanks again.”

Kim’s note to WDU:
“The Fundamentals of Fiction class definitely changed my life, and the book, the Fiction Writers Workshop is a lifetime worth of inspiration. I found Joyce’s class to be invaluable as far as getting into the nuts and bolts of writing fiction. I’ve taken a lot of classes since then, including Mark Spencer‘s Advanced Fiction class which was fantastic and Mark was a great instructor. They have all contributed to my confidence and technical skill. I love the classes, they are inspiring and help with setting deadlines. I really can’t say enough about how these classes have improved my writing.

I had a flash fiction piece published in an on line e-zine, WritingRaw.com and am working on several stories for contests and a children’s book of Native American mythology.”
